Ed.: The Malden Warming Center is closed for the season; however, that doesn’t mean you can’t help! You can make donations to support the center for next year at the link below, and you can sign up to volunteer next winter using the form at the bottom of the page. We hope to open for January, February, and March in 2020. Stay tuned for more information, or email Pastor Emily at firstlutheranpastor [at] gmail.com or Pastor Gerry at churchoffice [at] maldennazarene.comcastbiz.net.

God is doing a new thing in Malden this year – starting a warming center!

Like many places in Massachusetts, there are many residents of Malden and our neighboring cities and towns who are homeless. In the coldest nights of the year, some of these folks have nowhere to go to warm up and stay safe. We rejoice to be one partner among many in our community contributing toward the new Malden Warming Center.

The Malden Warming Center (MWC) seeks to serve those experiencing homelessness
by providing safe shelter and warmth, recognizing each person’s inherent dignity and unique circumstance. It is open from 8pm-6am weeknights in January and February at the Malden Church of the Nazarene at 529 Eastern Ave. We hope there will be multiple volunteers at each shift, from 8pm-1am and 1am-6am. There is also a slot for folks to cook and serve a meal from 8-10pm and to ride along with the city van transporting homeless folks to the center at the same time. Volunteer as often as you are willing and able, from one shift to a regularly scheduled night!

Trainings for volunteers will be available through the season. The next training will be on Saturday, January 12th at 10am at the Church of the Nazarene. To sign up to volunteer, use this form online. If you’d like to donate to support the warming center, you can give through the Malden First Church of the Nazarene by designating your gift “Malden Warming Center.”

For more information, you can check out the MWC Flier.

God, you came to dwell with us in your child, Jesus Christ. May this warming center be a place for your people to dwell in safety, warmth, and comfort, and may our hearts be warmed to care for all of your children in the name of your child, Jesus Christ. Amen.
