News and Events

December

  • Sunday, December 3rd, is Consecration Sunday. We invite all members and friends of the congregation to fill out pledge cards with your intended donations for the coming year; giving through the congregation is a way to participate in the ministry we all do together. This Sunday we will gather and bless our pledges.
  • Advent starts early this year! We will observe Advent II-IV on December 3rd, 10th, and 17th. On Sunday, December 24th, we will hold two Christmas Eve services at 4:30pm and 10:30pm.
  • Christmas Day worship will be at 9:45am on December 25th.
  • Free community ukulele classes for youth and adults continue every other Wednesday at 6pm for youth and 7pm for adults. Our final class this semester will be December 3rd, and the youth ukulele concert will be held on Saturday, December 16th at 7pm! Class is held in the vestry, or fellowship hall, below the sanctuary in the main building. The concert will be in the sanctuary.
  • Bread of Life Monthly Meal: Volunteers from First Lutheran Church cook and serve a community meal on the fourth Friday of every month. The next meal will be Friday, December 22nd, 2017.
  • Bible Study is back! Join us on Sundays on at 11am December 3rd, 10th, and 17th for “Bible Basics: No Experience Necessary.” Bring a Bible if you have one and an open mind and heart.
  • Sunday School continues on Sundays December 3rd and 10th. Children ages 4 and up are welcome to attend our multi-age classes when we meet again.
  • Our Hands Knitting will be off for December.

 

January

  • We will celebrate Epiphany on Sunday, January 6th. This festival of the church year commemorates the arrival of the magi or kings in Bethlehem to bring gifts to the newly born Jesus. Follow the star with us in worship that day!
  • Our Hands Knitting returns on January 15th at 7pm at a new location: John Brewer’s Tavern at 7 Highland Ave, Malden, MA.
  • Sunday January 28th at 11am is our annual meeting. Come praise God with us and celebrate the ministries of this congregation and make decisions about our mission for the future.
  • Bible Study is back! Join us on Sundays on at 11am the first two weeks of January for “Bible Basics: No Experience Necessary.” We will continue our journey through Genesis. Bring a Bible if you have one and an open mind and heart.
  • Sunday School continues on Sundays December 3rd and 10th. Children ages 4 and up are welcome to attend our multi-age classes when we meet again.
  • Adult Education will continue with guest speakers from Refugee and Immigration Ministry on January 14th Forestdale Park teaching us about memory loss on January 21st. Both events will be at 11am in the Parish House following worship.
