A Welcoming Place for LGBTQ+ Youth
Chill And Talk Space (CATS) is a safe, welcoming environment for LGBTQ+ youth and allies in grades 6-12, where youth can be themselves without judgment, explore their identities, receive accurate information and relevant resources, connect with the Divine, and experience a queer-normative environment.
CATS meets downstairs in First Lutheran Church in Malden (98 Waite St) on the first and third Thursday of the month from 6-8pm.
Dinner will be provided; gluten free options available. If you have other dietary restrictions, please let us know in advance and we’ll be sure to accommodate you.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Who can attend CATS?
A: Any youth in grades 6-12 is welcome to join us. This space is designed to support LGBTQ+ youth, and allies are always welcome to share in the conversation and activities. Please have your adult fill out a permission slip for your attendance as soon as possible (paper copies available on site)
Q: Who are the adult volunteers?
A: Our volunteers are LGBTQ+ adults and allies with experience working with youth as teachers, parents, yoga instructors, and youth group leaders. All have undergone background checks. We require at least two unrelated adults to be present with youth at all times.
Q: What are your COVID protocols?
A: We encourage all attendees to stay up to date on their vaccinations and boosters. Masking is currently optional. These protocols are subject to change based on seasonal surges.
Q: What if I can’t come until 7? What if I have to leave early?
A: Youth are welcome to come at any point between 6 and 8pm and stay as long as they like. If we are scheduling a more structured activity or conversation, we will let you know in advance for planning purposes.
