Rev. Emily Hamilton, Pastor
Pastor Emily grew up in Rochester, NY, studied religion at Vassar College and received her M.Div. with a focus on preaching and worship at Union Theological Seminary. She worked for the full participation of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people in the Lutheran Church at ReconcilingWorks in St. Paul, MN as a member of the Lutheran Volunteer Corps, did field work both at CONNECT NYC, an organization dedicated to educating about and preventing intimate partner violence, and at Trinity Lutheran Church in Manhattan. Most recently she served a year of internship at St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Vancouver, WA and did an additional year of Lutheran studies at the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia (now United Lutheran Seminary).
Pastor Emily was ordained in August of 2017 when she was called here to First Lutheran Church in Malden. Pastor Emily enjoys hearing live music and making it herself: singing, playing the piano, learning the guitar and now the ukulele. She is a runner, a vegetarian, a lover of novels and poetry, and has a weakness for overly dramatic television. Pastor Emily believes God is calling First Lutheran Church to special and holy ministry here in Malden and is excited to work, pray, and laugh alongside this congregation.
