Saturday, March 27: Preparations
Palms will be available at the church for pick-up or delivery. Please contact the church if you’d like someone to bring a palm to your home. At 11am, we’ll gather in front of the church to film an outdoor, masked, silent procession of the palms. We invite you to bring signs that say things like “Hosanna!” “Save us!” “Blessed is He Who Comes!” We’ll share the footage on Sunday morning while we sing “All Glory Laud and Honor.”
Maundy Thursday will include hand and foot washing. If you live with family or friends, you’re invited to prepare a bowl of warm water and a towel to wash one another’s hands or feet. If you’ll be commemorating Maundy Thursday alone, we have a special gift for you: small lavender scented bath bombs specifically for soaking hands or feet. We hope that the bubbles will gently wash your hands or feet on our behalf. Bath bombs and instructions will be available at the church on March 27th, as well – and yes, you can take one even if you don’t live alone or won’t be with us on Maundy Thursday!
Palm Sunday: March 28, 9:45am
We remember Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem and will read the Passion according to Mark communally. Bring your palm branches, other branches from your yard, or coats to worship to wave and lay before Jesus.
Maundy Thursday: April 1, 7pm
On this day, the first of the Triduum (Great Three Days) we remember Jesus’ great commandment to love one another as he loves us. We will spend time in confession, prayer, and washing hands or feet (as you feel comfortable) at home. Bring a basin of warm water and a towel.
Good Friday: April 2, 7pm
A Tenebrae worship of light and darkness. We will read the Passion according to John and remember Jesus’ death on the cross. We leave in silence, and wait for the light of Easter morning.
Easter Sunday: April 4, 9:45am
Hallelujah! Christ is risen! Christ is risen indeed! Hallelujah! Celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ with us. We’ll enjoy special music as we live into new life together.
