Autumn Activities at First Lutheran

Fall is always an exciting time: youth are returning to school, the seasons are changing, and the program year in congregations and other organizations is ramping up. We’re excited to offer a number of education, service, and worship opportunities over the next few months.

September 25th: God’s Work, Our Hands

Wear your work clothes and grab some gloves after worship as we head out to clean up trash around our neighborhood, or pick up some notecards and write a word of encouragement to a homebound member of our community.

October 9th & 16th: Learning To Rest

At 10:45am, join Pastor Emily for a guided conversation about sabbath and sabbaticals: what she did this summer, what she learned, and how we can all rest in the gift of Sabbath that God gives to us every week.

October 16th: Ukulele Meet-Up

Always want to learn the ukulele? Love singing with a group? Feeling rusty and want to brush up? Come to the church at 3pm for a ukulele meet up for adults! We’ll provide music and spare ukuleles, work on our skills, and enjoy making music together.

October 30th: Reformation Sunday

Festive worship with our siblings in Christ at Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in Woburn. Set your GPS to 60 Forest Park Rd, Woburn and wear red for the Holy Spirit as we celebrate the ways God continues to reform the church in the world.

November 6th: All Saints

The first Sunday in November we commemorate all the Christians who have gone before us, especially those who died in the last year. Bring photos or mementos of those who have died as we give God thanks for their lives and for the promise that we will be together with them in the Kingdom of Heaven.

November 20th: Hope for the Holidays

As the holiday season approaches, we remember that Christmas and New Years are not happy for everyone. Thousands of immigrants will travel to this country in search of a welcome, only to be detained away from their loved ones. At 10:45am, we will make and holiday cards and write messages of hope, consolation, and welcome to migrants who will spend the season in detention centers.

November 27th: Advent Family Sunday School Session

In addition to Sunday School sessions on the first and second Sunday of the month, families will gather all together on November 27th at 10:45am to learn about and prepare for the season of Advent.
