In the past month social media and the news have been full of reports about sexual abuse, assault, and harassment. This can be difficult for victims and survivors, as it can trigger traumas and bring up terrible memories. If this reflects your experience, please know:
You’re not alone.
God loves you and never wanted this to happen to you. This was not your fault, it was not a test or trial or lesson of any kind. It was a sinful act perpetrated by a human being. You are still created wonderfully, fearfully, and good by God. That has not changed.
If you’re having a hard time, you can get help. Volunteers with RAINN (Rape, Abuse, & Incest National Network) are available via a phone hotline at 1-800-656-4673 and online message system to talk with survivors and victims of all ages, races, genders, sexual orientations and gender identities, no matter when the assault occurred.
If you would like to receive pastoral care, please contact me in person, through Facebook, at the church office (781-324-7133), or via email at firstlutheranpastor@gmail.com.
God’s grace, peace, and love be with you always.
Pastor Emily
